Your WhatsApp was hacked, your number is registered on someone else’s phone, or you have been logged out and cannot get back in. Answer three questions and get the exact steps for your case, the deactivation email ready to send, the 7-day PIN timer, and a message to warn your contacts. Built for Lebanon. Nothing you type leaves your phone.

The thief does not break into anything. They talk you into handing over the account. The three tricks doing the rounds:
Less common but harder: a SIM swap, where someone obtains a replacement SIM for your number. Your phone loses signal, and the thief receives your SMS codes.
They put your name and photo on the account and start writing to your contacts. The scripts are always the same: an urgent bank transfer, an OMT or Whish payment "until tomorrow", a request to forward a 6-digit code "sent by mistake". Each contact who falls for the code request becomes the next stolen account. That is why the wave spreads through families and office groups.
They also usually turn on two-step verification with their own PIN, which is what creates the 7-day wait when you try to come back.
| Your case | Time to recover | Who can speed it up |
|---|---|---|
| You have your SIM, thief set no PIN | Minutes. Re-register with the SMS code. | Nobody needed |
| Thief set a PIN, you had a recovery email | Minutes. Forgot PIN, reset by email. | Nobody needed |
| Thief set a PIN, no recovery email | 7 days, counted from your SMS-code entry. | Nobody. Not Meta partners, not shops, not "experts". |
| Phone or SIM lost or stolen | SIM replacement at Alfa or touch, then one of the above. | The telco, with your ID |
Anyone offering to recover a WhatsApp account faster for a fee, or asking for a photo of your ID to "verify you with Meta", is running the second scam of the day. WhatsApp has no ID-based recovery and no local verifiers. The only recovery path is the SIM in your hand.
People describe this in a few different ways. Any one of them means the account is gone or going:
If you added a recovery email to two-step verification before the account was taken, this is the fast path and it skips the 7-day wait entirely. Register your number again, enter the 6-digit SMS code, and when WhatsApp asks for a PIN you do not know, tap Forgot PIN? then Send email. WhatsApp sends a reset link to the address you registered, you clear the thief’s PIN, and you are back in minutes.
If you never added a recovery email, that option is simply not offered, and no support channel, shop or “Meta partner” can add one after the fact. The 7-day wait is then the only route back. This one setting decides whether losing your WhatsApp costs you two minutes or a full week, which is why it is worth adding to every phone in the family tonight.
A ban is a different problem from a stolen account. Nobody took your number: WhatsApp itself blocked it, usually for spam-like activity, mass messages, being reported by many people, or using an unofficial app. You will know it is a ban because WhatsApp opens only on a screen that says “This account is not allowed to use WhatsApp”. The rest of the app is locked, so Settings › Help › Contact us is not reachable and is not the way to appeal.
No shop, “Meta partner” or paid service can lift a ban. Anyone who asks for money, your ID or your 6-digit code to unban you is a scammer.
Keep every screenshot, transfer receipt and the thief's messages. Contact the transfer company or bank immediately; a transfer that has not been collected can sometimes be stopped. File a complaint with the ISF Cybercrime and Intellectual Property Bureau in Beirut. Journalists and civil society workers in Lebanon can also contact the SMEX digital safety helpdesk, which has an escalation channel to Meta for content and account issues.
Can LB Clouds recover the account for me? No, and neither can anyone else. Only the SIM holder can re-register, and only WhatsApp controls the 7-day wait. We built this page because the wrong information circulating in Lebanon is costing people money twice: once to the thief, once to the "recovery service".
Did they read my old messages? Normally no. Chat history lives on your phone, not on the number. They see new incoming messages and your groups while they hold the account.
Will I lose my chats? If you re-register on the same phone, your chats are still there. If you had cloud backups, you can restore them on a new phone. The thief cannot restore your backup without your Google or Apple account.
What if the 6-digit code never arrives? Wait for the in-app timer, then choose "Call me". Do not request the code repeatedly; every extra request lengthens the next wait.
How do I get my WhatsApp account back? Put your SIM in a phone, register the number again and enter the 6-digit code WhatsApp sends you. That alone logs the thief out. If a PIN you never set is then requested, reset it by email if you have a recovery email, otherwise wait the 7 days.
Someone registered my number on another phone — what now? The same three steps above, and do them now rather than later: every hour they hold the account is another hour of messages going to your contacts in your name.
Can I recover WhatsApp without the SIM card? No. The number is the account. If the SIM is lost or stolen, get a replacement SIM from Alfa or touch with your ID first, then register again. In the meantime, email [email protected] to have the account deactivated so the thief cannot use it.
Where do these steps come from? WhatsApp's own help center: recovering a compromised account, lost or stolen devices, resetting the two-step PIN and account deactivation, account bans. We only translated them into a plan and into Lebanese Arabic and French.
